So people (by people I mean my mom and my sister) have been telling me that I need to start my baby registry. In my mind, I have plenty or time to do that. I know what you are all thinking, she is just procrastinating again, but let me explain. I am not a spontaneous person, I am a planner. I like to think about things and research things for a LONG time before I jump into something. Those of you who know Jason know that he is quite the opposite, which is one of the many reasons I love him so much. You just mention something that needs to be done, even if it is just a passing thought, and before you can blink, we are getting it done. I am honestly not sure how I ever accomplished anything without him. Guess it just took a really long time. :)
Unfortulately, I don't think Jason can really help me out with the baby registry. I can't even get him to stay in Target for more than 10 mins so I can only imagine what dragging him through a Babies R Us would be like! It is not like I don't want to do it or that I have not been thinking about it A LOT. . . it is just the thought of having to make that final decision on everything. It is all so overwhelming to be honest. There are so many baby products out there and a million options for everything. I honestly don't know how anyone can be expected to make these decisions!
Let me give you an example. . . about a month ago I started looking at infant car seats, which lead me into looking at strollers because I need to be able to use the infant carrier with the stroller for the first few months (or 22 to 30 lbs as I have learned). So now I need to decide if we should make the investment and purchase a really nice stroller now that we can use all the way through Lucy's toddler years or do I just want to choose a stroller that goes with whatever infant carrier I choose and then purchase another one later once Lucy gets older. Ugh!
I know at the end of the day whatever stroller we end up will be fine and the same goes for the other items that will eventually be on our registry. I think I just like knowing that I have had the time to research everything and am not jumping into these decisions blindly. Plus, if I wait till I am under more pressure to do these things, (which I am guessing will be in a few of weeks when I am at the beach with my family), I will be forced into making that final decision. I mean, I will have everything narrowed down, so all that that will be left is just to choose one. Plenty of time for that, right? :)
I wonder if I will change at all after Lucy arrives? I am guessing I will have to, at least a little. Change is a good thing though, I am ready for it and I think Lucy is just the girl to help me with that! :)

Pregnancy Brain
So I believe I officially have what they call "Pregnancy Brain." Jason and I already have a lot planned for July and I needed to schedule a trip to DC as well. Instead of waiting last minute like I usually do, this morning I decided that I would be proactive and go ahead and book my flights now. I was very excited to find a fairly reasonable flight that left on a Tuesday evening and got back on a Friday evening, perfect.
Later this afternoon, as I was driving in my car, I was thinking about all of the things I had planned for July: beach, wedding, beach, DC, Alabama to visit Angela . . . OH NO! I completely forgot that my flight to go visit Angela left on the same day I was scheduled to get back from DC! To make matters worse, my flight from DC gets into Greensboro at 8pm and my flight to Alabama leaves from Charlotte at 5pm. How did I manage to screw that one up so badly? I honestly just made my flight reservations for Alabama last week!
So. . .after changing my flight from DC to fly directly into Charlotte and of course paying an extra $150. . . I think I have it all worked out . . . I think. . .
So much for my "fairly reasonable" flight. This being proactive stuff is for the birds (and maybe people that can actually remember their schedules).

Updates, Updates, Updates. . .
As I mentioned in my first post, Jason and I have been very busy the past couple of years.
Here is a quick recap. . .
February 2011 - Jason proposed to me while we were on our annual ski trip in Lake Tahoe. I said yes :)
Summer 2011 - We decided we were ready to leave DC and move to NC. The house shopping and packing begins
September 2011 - Bought a house and moved down to Greensboro, NC.
October 29, 2011 - Got married!
November 2011 - Honeymoon in Hawaii
February 2012 - Found out I was pregnant! Yay! Due on Oct 31st!
June 2012 - Found out we were having a girl! Her name will be Lucy Cotten Voss :)
. . . and those are just the highlights. Jason and I both still work for our companies up in DC so we have been traveling back and forth (Jason more than I since I found out I was pregnant) . . . I joined the Jr. League in January . . . We went to Breckenridge for our annual ski trip in early February of this year . . . Jason's company was purchased by a larger company so he has been busy helping with the transition . . . We bought an new Jeep, which we LOVE . . . Jason has been spending a lot of his spare time getting his car ready for a track event in Atlanta (he now has a fabulous garage, with air-conditioning, to do all of this work in) and I am starting to get the nursery ready for Lucy!
So we have had a lot going on and we are just going to get busier, but we are very, very excited about it!

Making an Attempt
I have been thinking about setting up a website/blog for us for a while now. We have been through a lot and experienced a lot in the past couple of years (all good I should add) and I wanted a non-facebook place to keep record of them. I like Facebook for some things, but I don't want to keep everything on there. Plus, Jason is anti-facebook and there are plenty of other family members that are not on it either. I guess I am really setting this up as something for us to look back on, like a scrapbook or photo album, and of course for family and friends too, if they want to check in on us from time to time.
I am also going to attempt to keep most of my photography and pictures here as well (if I am able to do it on this site) or at least link to it. Photography is just a hobby for me and I try to take pictures when we travel or if I have free time, but unfortunately it is not as often as I like and I spend a lot of time reteaching myself various techniques and camera settings over and over. I am hoping that one day I will have more time to dedicate to my hobby, but we will see!
So we will see how this whole blogging thing goes. I can promise one thing, I probably will not be consistent with it! Hopefully by the time you are reading this I will have figured out the site and have more posted!
